Customization & Tips

My Menu

In your main Menu → Setup, add your most-used menu pages (e.g. “ISO Auto Setting,” “AF-C Custom Settings,” “Film Simulation”) to My Menu for lightning-fast access.

Function (Fn) Mapping

Assign up to 7 of your most-used settings to the Fn buttons via Menu → Button/Dial Setting → Function (Fn) Setting.

Q-Menu Customization

Rearrange the Q-Menu grid so that the controls you use most (e.g., Dynamic Range, Shake Reduction) are in the easiest-to-reach positions.

Dial Clicks

For videography or smooth aperture changes, turn off clicks on the aperture ring (Menu → Disp/Backlight → Aperture Ring Click).

Back-Button AF

Assign AF-ON to AE-L/AF-L and shutter half-press to “Meter” only—this separates focusing from shooting for greater control.

Typical Workflow with Dials

Compose

Frame your shot using EVF or LCD.

Set Exposure

ISO Dial → Shutter Speed Dial → Aperture Ring (lens) → check exposure compensation.

Select AF Mode

Via Dial or Q-Menu: S-AF, C-AF, or Manual Focus.

Fine-Tune

Use the rear D-pad or joystick to move the focus point.

Shoot & Review

Half-press shutter ⇒ focus/meter ⇒ full-press to capture. Hit Playback to review and adjust.
