Who we are

The club was founded by Jack Botes in 1949. After early “hibernation” phases, a committed group revived the club in the mid-1970s and laid the foundation for the vibrant community you’ll find today.

Across decades, PFK has balanced craft and community: hands-on workshops, friendly critique evenings, national salon entries, and regular public presentations that keep photography alive in Limpopo.

What we do

  • Monthly meetings with image showcases and constructive feedback
  • Workshops and local outings to landmarks, reserves, and events
  • Competitions and exhibitions including PSSA salons and community shows
  • Mentorship for beginners and stretch goals for advanced photographers

Our spirit

Photography is more than pressing a shutter — it’s storytelling, fine art, discovery, and shared learning.

We teach, mentor, and celebrate the craft so that photographers in Polokwane and across Limpopo can thrive.

“It’s not how you get down — it’s how you get up.”
